Diet Plan

What does being a Registered Dietitian mean to me?What does becoming a Registered Dietitian mean to me. My dream has always wanted to become an RD since high school. My passion was always focused around nutrition and fitness and I even had my own journey based around them. Nutrition is not just what we put into our bodies, it’s also medicine. We need nutrition in order to maintain a healthy life and to prevent or change health complications. We also use nutrition to fuel ourselves to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s what we use to help us get out of bed in the morning and to get us ready for our day. It’s our source of energy.  Food is also what brings people together. It’s a way to socialize and it’s something for us to enjoy.

Almost everyone has a busy lifestyle and sometimes that could lead to poor food choices. Many rely on convenience and quick grabbings in order to go on about their day. Many might also be suffering from some sort of health issue that could be related to a poor diet. Some may even suffer from an eating disorder.  Food is also something that can change how a person feels.  Are they eating because they are hungry? Happy, sad, angry?  Maybe for energy, out of boredom, or socially?  It usually just depends.  We also learn what food does for the human body.  Poor nutrition causes harm to the body, but improved and great nutrition, helps improve it.  Food is what we need to maintain life, it brings people together, it can change a person’s life, and it’s something to enjoy.

Being an RD is to be able to learn about a person and change lives for the better.  Everyone has their own story, their own cultures, their own eating habits, and their own lifestyles. Being an RD gives us the chance to learn about someone, to know their struggles, their goals, and what could motivate them to change.  Being an RD leads us to counsel and reassure  people that they can do anything if they put their minds to it. "You are more than your struggles."  RDs help tackle the issues and guide people into changing their ways for a better and healthier lifestyle.  RDs help others set goals, motivate them to change their diet, discover something new, experiment, and possibly overcome their health issues and problems.

Being able to help someone who wants to change and wants to overcome their health issues is rewarding.  It makes one feel accomplished and tells you that you are able to make a difference in someone's life.  You are able to change their lives for the better and give them something new to learn.  Not only do we learn about them, but RD's are able to teach and learn something about themselves. RDs not only help change lives, but help to save lives too.
